The 4th annual Maine Symposium on Higher Education, will be held on Thursday, August 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the University of Southern Maine’s Abromson Center in Portland. More details are available on the agenda.

 

This year’s theme is Money for College – the Critical Link to Economic Growth

 

The Symposium is a unique gathering of educators, community leaders, policy makers and business people who are committed to increasing the education attainment level of Maine’s current and future workers.

 

Panels and workshops will examine several questions:

 

~What’s the Connection Between Business Growth and Student Financial Access?

 

~What are Maine Businesses and Employers Doing to Enable Current and Future    

  Workers to Achieve a Higher Education?

 

~What are Government, Philanthropies, and Higher Education Doing to Ensure

  Financial Access?

 

~What’s the Gap Between College Student Financial Needs and the Resources

  Available to Them?

 

District 1 Congressional Candidates have been invited to examine the role of the Federal Government in providing financial assistance.
